The Innovation Barn's Circular Economy Camps offer a hands-on, engaging summer experience where campers aged 5–12 explore the circular economy, sustainable design, and STEM learning. Through interactive projects in plastics, textiles, ecology, robotics, and upcycling, campers learn to reuse materials, reduce waste, and create innovative solutions for real-world environmental challenges. Each week includes problem-solving activities, design challenges, and a showcase exhibit where campers present their creations to family and community members. The programs empower young innovators to develop teamwork, creativity, and practical circular economy skills, making a tangible impact on their community.
Activities include exploring gardens, soil, bugs, composting, and aquaponics systems, investigating interconnectedness of food, insects, and energy, and learning to reuse organic waste. Campers also delve into textile and supply waste, transforming old T-shirts, paper, cardboard, and broken items into new creations. Older campers engage in advanced design challenges like glass crushing, textile upcycling, cardboard repurposing, and creative inventions, learning to repurpose materials, save energy, and reduce community waste. They also explore advanced robotics, 3D printing, and design thinking to identify, sort, recycle, and creatively repurpose plastics.
Camps run Monday–Friday, 9 AM–4 PM, with drop off from 8-9 AM and pick-up from 4-5 PM. Each day is packed with engineering design challenges, problem-based learning, and behind-the-scenes activities at the Innovation Barn.
