Campers build games while reflecting on AI as a creative, problem-solving, and ethical technology tool.
Middle schoolers in the Coding + Artificial Intelligence camp delve into the exciting world of AI, exploring how this technology can be used to design characters, generate story ideas, and assist with debugging code. Campers engage in hands-on activities to build games, fostering an understanding of AI as a creative, problem-solving, and ethical tool. The program emphasizes interactive experiments, games, and creative projects to illustrate how modern AI systems function. Students investigate how computers identify patterns in data, train machines to sort, predict, and classify information, and discover AI's diverse applications in areas like video games, recommendation systems, medical tools, and self-driving cars. Through interactive challenges, participants train simple AI models, evaluate their effectiveness, and learn what contributes to system accuracy. They also design and construct their own AI-powered projects, such as smart games, recognition tools, or digital assistants, utilizing kid-friendly coding and visual tools. The curriculum highlights the interplay of data, logic, and algorithms in making machines 'smart' and the human role in guiding, testing, and improving these systems. This camp cultivates problem-solving skills, creativity, and an understanding of real-world technology, providing a practical introduction to AI's impact and empowering students to become future innovators.
A typical day involves hands-on experiments, games, and creative projects to explore AI concepts, training simple AI models, and designing AI-powered projects using kid-friendly coding and visual tools.
This camp is best for middle schoolers interested in understanding how artificial intelligence works and how to apply it in creative and problem-solving contexts, particularly through game development.
