About this camp

Electronics 301: Build Your Own Robot is an immersive, project-based summer camp for high school students in grades 9–12, hosted in partnership with the William States Lee College of Engineering at UNC Charlotte. Campers gain hands-on experience with electronics engineering and robotics design by building and programming their own robot. The curriculum focuses on fundamental concepts such as circuitry, sensors, motors, and how these components integrate into a functional robotic system. Students learn to read schematics, build circuits, apply math and reasoning to their designs, and practice troubleshooting. The camp culminates in a capstone project where participants design, assemble, integrate components, test, and refine a working robot, which they then take home. This experience builds practical skills, introduces engineering thinking, and supports STEM exploration for college and career pathways.
